Meals
At Kate Greenaway Nursery School we recognise the importance to children of a healthy, balanced diet. Caterlink make our meals on site. They are specialist caterers in education establishments.
We’re passionate about fresh, healthy food that tastes great. The right nutrients can affect everyone’s mood, behaviour, health, growth and even their ability to concentrate. Encouraging a well-balanced diet establishes healthy eating now and for the future.
The children also have access to a morning snack of fruit and crackers, with water available throughout the day. We offer breakfast and tea to children who are with us for longer days.

Caterlink Statement:
Our primary objective for catering within Islington is to provide pupils, staff and visitors with a choice of homemade, nutritious and well balanced meals. Menus will reflect the requirements and tastes of pupils and staff and will be continually monitored to ensure the menu choices encourage the highest levels of uptake.
A three week menu cycle will be changed seasonally, our development team will consult with Kate Greenaway, nutritionists and comply with the school food plan for early years
We will ensure red meat is available at least twice a week and fish at least once a week which will include an oily fish. Vegetarian protein options will include beans and pulses an there will always be a choice of two bread/cereals or potato choices. Wherever possible sauces and dressings are made with low fat ingredients and cooking oil and salt is used to a minimum. Alternative low fat fillings will be available for sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Low sugar desserts all are produced within recommended daily allowances along with skimmed milk for cereals.
Freshly cut fruit and low fat fruit yoghurt will be available everyday as an alternative to the daily homemade dessert, a treat once in a while such as ice cream on a Friday helps to add a bit of fun into school meals for pupils. Although a bowl of cut fruit or strawberries arranged nicely can sometimes appeal more to the younger children as a treat and we will always offer this as an alternative
